This house has always been our vacation spot. It was commissioned by my grandfather in 1968 precisely because he was in love with this much more private part of Tuscany. The project was entrusted to the young architect Carlo Chiappi; who decided to call this project “the house in the house” because of the double-layered roof.
Modernist principles are evident with a mix of functionality and aesthetic appeal. Clean lines and an integration of continuity with the surrounding landscape, the spacious interiors are filled with natural light, already enjoying the beauty of the Tuscan countryside from the inside.
The house is organized on two levels. On the ground floor, in continuity with the surrounding garden through the large openings, are the living room, kitchen, a bathroom with shower and two mirrored rooms, while on the upper floor, a studio, a second bathroom and the master bedroom open to the loggia are obtained.
Architect Chiappi describes the house as follows, “The house is solid, firmly planted with its feet on the ground, protected from the sun, winds and rain. On the large roof pitches the seasons and years will be able to flow.”
